Pre-Father's Day Activity

In honor of Father's Day, I folded this napkin to look like a shirt with a wrinkled tie.

Here is what the father did for part of the day today.

We have these growing wildly in a section of our backyard. The individual sunflowers are pretty but the whole plant looks as though it could be the main character (chanting, "feed me!") in the play, "Little Shop of Horrors."

Slightly out of control.

Happy Father's Day, tomorrow! Aren't you having fun?

Pink Poodle

We are having a lot of fun with Madeline's pink hair. Here it is in a poodle style.

Strawberry shortcake.

Copying Grandma Martineau.

" The sun will come out- tomorrow! Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow..."

(The headband got lost in her 'fro.)

In My Sunday Going to Meetin' Clothes

My sister, Sharla and her children, Mia and Colton came to visit. (Guess whose shoes?)

In their Sunday finery.

Behind the scenes.

The three still at home.

Madeline, cousin Colton, Jared, Dylan, cousin Mia.

What was REALLY going on!

The girls. Madeline and Mia.

Where'd you get those tiny, delicate, petite hands that aren't manly in the least ?

Sugar and spice and everything nice.

Yes, we're very close.

We love our cousins!

Introducing....Shawn!

It seems as though Shawn hasn't been represented much on our Once Upon a Salisbury blog. So here he is, introducing....Shawn! (or Michael ) Yes, the man has two first names. (No, it's not a birth defect, just a conscious choice.) Why have one when you can have two, I always say.

So here is Shawn Michael or Michael Shawn squatting with a football.

It was a little startling for Jared, finding a tree with his father's head.

Today is our anniversary. After so many years of marriage, are we starting to look alike?

It's always hilarious when your wife is digging her chin into your shoulder.

Romantic interlude or "hurry up and take the picture" moment?

Love you, Shawn!

My Favorites

Jordan stopped by for a visit today. (We sure do miss seeing him!) Dylan, Jordan, Jared and Madeline.

Gattiland Fun

On Tuesday we went to Gattiland for 1/2 price games.

My little cotton candy head girl.

The wall of (cheaply made) exciting prizes!

Madeline bought some shades with her tickets.

Dylan and Madeline jumped on the carousel that had a sign which clearly stated that the ride was only for ages 5 and younger. Anything for a good photo op. (I'm not sure why Dylan has vampire eyes--although he has been acting a little funny lately....)

The highlight of the visit. (Stuffing our faces with unlimited pizza was a close second.)

Don't you just love those close face shots?

Madeline, Jared and Dylan. We had a lot of fun!

Flower Pot Friday

Friday Dylan and Jared went with me to get ingredients to make flower pot cupcakes.

I bought 10 mini terracotta pots and washed them out. I oiled them and coated the inside with cocoa then filled each one 3/4 full with chocolate cake batter.

After they were baked and cooled, I frosted them with chocolate frosting and crushed up Oreos on top. Then I added a "permanent" flower to each one.

Madeline and I gave them away to various friends. And of course, had to try them ourselves.

I think it was a fun (and yummy) way to make cupcakes.

Random Pictures From the Past

Lacey checking out the wheat grass. (March 1st)

At Roger's Gardens in California. (October 2010)

I absolutely LOVED this mirror wall at Roger's Gardens.

Madeline just had her ears pierced for her birthday. (February)

Jared is taller (and tanner) than me.

Gang of four in April.

Jared is taller than Madeline now.

First boy. He grew up too fast.

Jordan is starting to look a little older in the face.

Bella staring at Jordan in adoration.

The youngest. He has definitely grown too fast.

Jared was really energized by General Conference last April.

He was in deep meditation on the floor with blankets.

That's all folks!

(We need some pictures of Shawn.)
