Shopping, Snowflake Style

The trip wouldn't be complete without a day of thrift shopping.  My mom took us around to 8 different thrift, antique or junk stores between Snowflake and Show Low.  Most of the places were very junky with a few higher end (overpriced) antique stores.  My mom has a sense of humor.  After visiting a particularly junky place we pulled up in front of an assisted living thrift store.  My mom turns to me and says, "Now don't be disappointed." before we go in.  (What?  How can this place be worse than the last?)  It was.

Madeline and Jared went with us.  (Dylan stayed home with James and Melissa's children.)  This antique store delighted the kids with some friendly cats.  My mom was able to find some earrings she liked.

The favorite item was this beautiful car for sale.  (Too bad we couldn't bring it back with us.)  Overall, we had a wonderful time and were able to find a few treasures.  I brought home some vintage globes and two mirrors.  Madeline found some colorful stuffed hippos as gifts for her friends and a pair of snow boots (similar to the pair Napoleon Dynamite wears in the movie.)  Nothing for Jared this time.  We only had a few close calls with a torrential downpour and a creepy tobacco seller.  And that was our day, shopping Snowflake style.
