Bathing Beauties

After a dusty afternoon ride the horses need to shower.

The water looks like snow in this picture.

Madeline washing off the horse's feet with Ben (Melissa's son) looking on.

 One down, one to go.

A clean horse ready for her photo shoot.

She's all clean and fresh so what is the next thing she does?

 Words cannot describe...

 An action shot.

Jared decided to tackle the next horse.

 The fun part.

I love the look on Jared's face.

He looks as though he is having a good time.

All clean and ready to go.

He is a much older horse.  Will he roll around in the dirt too?

Such shenanigans!

Horse Stories

Madeline had the opportunity to spend some time with the horses.

Grandpa Martineau helped Madeline saddle up on Rocky.

Rocky can hardly wait to go.

Grandpa rode Magic.

Heading out to go trail riding.

Leaving Phoenix

Dylan, Jared and Madeline in front of the La Quinta Hotel in Mesa. We stay here whenever we are in the Phoenix area. This was right before we left for Snowflake. It was already very bright and HOT!

Arizona Science Museum

We went to the Science Museum with David, Jen and Layla. Jared became engrossed in building a tower out of wood shims.

Such a talent!

Future architect or champion Jenga player?

Jared has been growing his hair out. (A tribute to Kid N Play.)

Who is this with the heavy forehead and large nose?

Trying out for the Megamind movie.

I had a little work done recently.

The most interesting part of the museum was the bed of nails. Each nail was quite sharp but all together they were able to support a person without any pain whatsoever.

Dylan lies down for a snooze.

Dylan used the pulley to lift his own body weight with the massive strength of his upper arms.

Madeline using the pulley, too. (Check out those guns!)

This was a cute little historic looking home belonging to Arizona State University which was right next door to the museum.

We really had a great time at the museum. It was quite interesting.

Yes, We Went Bowling!

We went bowling (Arizona style) with my brother Ted, his wife, Jane and my brother David with his wife, Jen and baby Layla.

A butterfly landed on Madeline's head. (Actually, it is a pin that Jane gave her.)

Pinkie and I fought for last place but Ted beat everyone by a long shot. We really had a good time and were able to wear some stylish shoes in the process.

Earlier in the day we went to a couple of thrift stores. Dylan posed with one of the props at The Restore. Such a helpful child.

Fun with Family

We met Grandpa and Grandma Martineau for lunch at P.F. Changs. They were down in Phoenix just for the day. This evening we ate dinner at Ted and Jane's house. David, Jen and Layla came over too. It was fun visiting with everyone.

Summer Trip to Arizona

This was our first stop on the way to Arizona. We decided to check out Wildseed Farms in Fredricksburg, Texas. It is a beautiful botanical farm.

The sun was already quite bright!

Had to get a picture of Madeline with the cactus.

And the windmill.

We stretched at each stop. Dylan worked on his flexibility.

Jared was able to catch a few winks.

We reached El Paso. It is on the border of Texas and Mexico. Also close to New Mexico.

El Paso is basically all one dusty color. Here is the scenery shot.

Madeline documented our arrival into New Mexico.

Jared found a new friend at a rest stop.

It was fun looking at all the kitchy souvenirs.

Should we bring this home?

The elusive jackalope.

We were excited to see this sign at a rest stop.

Jared, Dylan and Madeline happy to be photographed with a giant teepee in the distance.

Proof that I was there.

Beautiful scenery in New Mexico.

We made it to Arizona!
